Askwith: Sandblasted Nosewarmer Pot Tobacco Pipe

Chris Askwith has a penchant for the well-balanced proportions and sophisticated shaping of classic English pipes, but he renders those traditional designs through his personal creative lens. He often modernizes shape-chart standards through his use of colorful polyester stems and stylish finishes, both of which are on all full display with this Pot. The bowl here is stocky and broad, favoring width over height, its low-lying disposition imbuing the pipe with a sense of cutting dynamism and appearing as if it was shaped to minimize wind resistance and reduce any unnecessary drag. The shank is somewhat abbreviated, but it still balances well with the bowl before being outpaced by a tapered stem of green and yellow polyester. The bright colors of the mouthpiece add a dose of vibrancy to the pipe's otherwise reserved palette, contrasting against the crisp, dark sandblast that dresses the stummel. Said sandblast provides a light texture to the stummel that pleases the fingers and accentuates the natural grain orientation of the briar. The rim is chamfered subtly near the chamber for easy loading of a favored blend, and the overall design measures in at less than five inches in total length, making it ideal for on-the-go smoking.
