Askwith: Sandblasted Bulldog Tobacco Pipe

Chris Askwith's pipe-making proclivity for taking classic shapes and contemporizing them through colorful palettes and alternative mediums is displayed in this straight Bulldog. The shaping of the bowl, with its dome-like taper, twin beadlines, and sloping flanks is informed by classic design cues, as is the crisp-lined diamond shank, which tapers, along with the stem toward the bit. The English carver's bespoke palette proves to be quite eye catching, with the extra-dark sandblast starkly contrasted by one of Chris' signature polyester mouthpieces of cream-colored tones for a juxtaposition of mediums and hues.
