Chris Askwith's proclivity for taking classic shapes and modernizing them through colorful palettes and alternative mediums is displayed with this straight Bulldog. The shaping of the bowl, with its dome-like taper, twin beadlines, and sloping flanks is informed by classic design cues, as is the crisp-lined diamond shank, which tapers, along with the stem, toward the bit. The English carver's bespoke palette proves to be quite eye catching, with the extra-dark sandblast starkly contrasted by one of Chris' signature polyester mouthpieces, which is accented with cream-colored bands for a juxtaposition of mediums and hues.
