Askwith: Rusticated Rhodesian Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-499-0440
English carver Chris Askwith has a penchant for crafting artisanal renditions of old Anglo-French pipe-chart standards, but he modernizes them with his unique finishing work and vibrant polyester stems. The results are simply gorgeous, as this Rhodesian can attest. Though quite compact in terms of length, measuring just a touch over five inches, this piece still maintains a balanced sense of proportions. As expected from a pipe of this size, this design is lightweight and primed for easy clenching, making it ideal for on-the-go smoking.
Shape-wise, this piece pairs a demure bowl, complete with the form's tapered rim and wrapping beadline, to an arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement. A dark stain and detailed rustication dress the stummel, with circular striations radiating up the sides of the bowl, mimicking the appearance of growth rings and mirroring the trajectory of the aforementioned beadline. A blue and black polyester stem tops off the design and adds a dose of modernist vibrancy to the overall composition.
