Askwith: Weathered Bone Bulldog Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-499-0442
Chris Askwith's Weathered Bone finish falls under the category of a micro-sandblast, which is a pretty small category as far as finish-types go. The defining factor is a sandblast technique that can bring out the micro-structure of the briar, rather than being dedicated to the usual displays of ring grain and blasted birdseye. Askwith calls this finish Weathered Bone, an apt description since, by leaving the briar pale and mixing his micro-blast technique with areas given a more conventional, very light sandblasting, the English artisan can effectively emulate the look of bone that has been left exposed to the natural elements. This unique finish is presented in the form of a thoroughly traditional Bulldog, with its customary beadlines and diamond shank. It features a tapered stem made of milk-white polyester that perfectly complements the bleached-bone hues of the stummel.
