Askwith: Smooth Morta Acorn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-499-0522
An English artisan known for his use of morta and colorful stems, Chris Askwith expands his signature œuvre with this Acorn rendition. He typically crafts traditional, pipe-chart standards, and while the Acorn isn't the most classic of shapes, this rendition still caters to the reserved design and balanced proportions of traditional French and English shaping cues. Most prominent in profile is the form's angular nature, the heel pointed sharply at the fore and echoing the crisp taper of the shank and stem. Meanwhile, the domed aspect of the rim adds contrasting curvature. The tall bowl houses a generous chamber for leisurely smoking sessions, and such height offers even greater appreciation of the morta's crisply sandblasted finish, the stummel covered in myriad striations underneath a dark palette. The hand-cut vulcanite stem's variegated hues of crimson, yellow, and black add striking accenting color, fitting in to Askwith's typical use of colorful palettes and combining well with the monochromatic morta.
