Kurt Balleby: Sandblasted Bent Brandy with Karelian Birch Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-294-0077
Pairing a bold, shapely bowl to a comparatively trim and gestural stretch of shank and stem, this bent Brandy really exemplifies Kurt Balleby's Danish neoclassical approach to shaping — offering up smooth, easy curves and a fair bit of substance in hand. The definition he's lent to the transition is perfectly handled, creating full, plump cheeks to either flank. What's more, I particularly like how he's handled the double accents here, crafting them from the same piece of karelian birch, which he sourced from an exotic hardwood supplier from Germany, ensuring all the patterns and various shades of both pieces line up perfectly. It's gorgeous work — and quite representative of Kurt's aesthetic overall.
