Kurt Balleby: Sandblasted Bent Bulldog with Kingwood Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-294-0083

A low waistline provides something of a Brandy shape to the bowl, with the two bead lines just above the transition. The shank is short but full of complexity, with multiple surfaces, each geometrically precise and paralleled. The decorative fitment of kingwood is a subdued and deeply colorful addition, dividing the jet black of the stem from the black of the stummel. Graceful lines with crisp edges dominate the lower section of the pipe, while the soft taper of the bowl rises up. Utilizing graceful curves that are punctuated with the paneled ridges of the shank and heel, it's a piece easily recognizable as a Balleby performance. Softly bent, comfortable in hand, elegantly colored, with grain that rises in concentric circles up the circumference of the bowl, this is a pipe that could strike awe into the hearts of the most experienced collectors.
