Barling: Nelson Ye Olde Wood (1814) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-132-0694
Originally founded in 1812, Barling was a prestigious name in the world of English pipe making. It all started when Benjamin Barling, seeing an opportunity to use his silversmithing skills in a then infantile pipe market, began outfitting meerschaum bowls with ornate silver mounts. Over time, the Barling brand expanded and eventually began producing briar pipes, which became synonymous with quality craftsmanship and superior engineering. In 2020, Kopp Pipes resurrected the iconic English brand and now continues Barling's legacy of deft craftsmanship with a line of pipes in the refined English style.
Like Barling's Trafalgar and Admiral series, the Nelson line pays tribute to Horatio Nelson, a British Admiral who became a legend in 1805, when he overpowered the Spanish and French fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar. Admiral Nelson was fatally wounded during the conflict, but his victory ensured the safety of England and laid the groundwork for Britain's eventual naval supremacy. Presented across a variety of distinctive finishes, each pipe in the Nelson series features a sterling silver accent carved to resemble braided rope, honoring one of the primary tools found on a naval ship of the time. Such is the case with this "1814" Lovat, dressed in the Ye Olde Wood smooth finish.
