Barling: William Ye Olde Wood (1837) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-132-1459

Originally founded in 1812, Barling was a prestigious name in the world of English pipe making. It all started when Benjamin Barling, seeing an opportunity to use his silversmithing skills in a then infantile pipe market, began outfitting meerschaum bowls with ornate silver mounts. Over time, the Barling brand expanded and eventually began producing briar pipes, which became synonymous with quality craftsmanship and superior engineering. In 2020, Kopp Pipes resurrected the iconic English brand and now continues Barling's legacy of deft craftsmanship with a line of pipes in the refined English style.

The William series honors Benjamin Barling's son William Barling. William followed in the family trade, taking up silversmithing and joining his father's workshop, alongside his brother, Edward Barling. Benjamin changed the company name to Barling & Sons, beginning the "Family Era" of Barling that continued until the 1960s, when the Barling family sold the company. The William series comprises a wide array of shapes unique to the line, each of which features standard, 3mm drilling and is appropriately embellished with a gorgeous band of silver. This particular example is the "1837" bent Billiard, dressed in the Ye Olde Wood smooth finish.
