Becker: Sandblasted Cherrywood (Four Clubs)
Product Number: 002-007-0742
Federico Becker's wasp-waisted style of Cherrywood is one of the Italian carver's most recognizable shapes, easily spotted from across the room and making for a striking, whimsical profile. In this particular rendition, said style of shank, combined with the curling stem, takes much of the focus, as the bowl here is quite squat and traditional, almost Pot-like in its proportions. It's one of the those pieces that's as comfortable in hand as it is slung from the jaw, making it versatile and fit for any occasion. It also sits sturdily, though resting backward on the shank but still without any fear of spilling its contents. Fitted to a smoky-hued cumberland stem, the color palette here is dark and handsome, boasting a ring grain-adorned sandblast and smooth, walnut-stained rim up top.-Truett Smith
