Becker: Smooth Dublin with Horn (Three Hearts)

Product Number: 002-007-0778

From grandfather to father and now to son, three generations of Beckers have fashioned artisan pipes under the family name, with Federico currently continuing the legacy. While the specific men carving each pipe has changed hands over the decades, the style of Becker pipes have maintained a consistent personality and the quality of craftsmanship has remained top-tier, improving with the evolution of artisan pipe making over the years.

This Dublin example does well to embody Becker's signature aesthetic, which often employs sleek lines, slender proportions, and a noticeably pointed heel. Prioritizing a light weight and angular disposition, the trim bowl cants forward on the end of the slender shank, the forward dynamism accentuated further by the sloping angle of the rim — the rim's fore echoing the firm nature of the heel. Few Becker pipes are finished smooth, Federico more often than not opting for sandblasts, making this piece a rarer pipe from the Italian artisan. Furthermore, accenting materials aren't often seen on Becker pipes either, but this piece features a tasteful portion of horn at the shank end, blending well with the stummel's auburn stain.
