Becker: Sandblasted Pot (Three Clubs)
Product Number: 002-007-0781
Continuing the Becker pipe-making name, Federico carries the torch passed down from his grandfather, Fritz, and father, Paolo. The Italian artisan's design style often portrays sleek and streamlined forms, marked by crisp and angular line work. This Pot represents that iconic Becker style well — featuring a slender shank-and-stem combination that leads into a pert bowl. The forward-most section of the heel meets the underside in a pointed spur, a signature design cue from Federico, adding to the profile's clean lines and matching the angle of the transition. While this compact piece does well to display the Becker style, the finish is a departure from most of Federico's other pipes. It is sandblasted and fitted to a brindled vulcanite stem, like many others in his portfolio; however, instead of a dark stain, this Pot features a virgin finish, allowing full appreciation of the briar's patinating ability as it darkens while smoked, visually representing the years enjoyed with it.-Truett Smith
