Becker: Smooth Dublin (Two Hearts) Tobacco Pipe

A third-generation pipe maker, Federico Becker continues the long legacy of his grandfather Fritz and father, Paolo. Although Federico is based in Italy, many of his pipes are inspired by the English tradition, creating an aesthetic that is uniquely Becker. Feederico continues the signature Becker style, pairing crisp line work with sleek proportions and typically dressing his pipes in light smooth finishes or dark sandblasts.

One of Becker's most frequently produced shapes, this Dublin's exquisitely streamlined proportions exhibit why the shape is one of Federico's favorites. The lightweight stummel features a canted bowl, giving the shape a forward-urging dynamism that leads one's eyes to the sharp heel. From said heel, the walls of the bowl smoothly flare outwards before straightening at the bowl's midsection, creating an even in-hand feel while the flare from the heel projects a Dublin aesthetic onto the entire bowl. Out back, the shank is proportionally quaint, but the the stem is significantly longer than the stummel, its protracted taper giving the pipe a sleek profile. Additionally, the pipe is dressed in a warm chestnut stain that creates subtle contrasts in the grain pattern — sweeping cross grain flows down the fore and aft and adorns the slightly domed rim, while birdseye coalesces on the flanks in small freckles and wide whorls.
