Benni Jorgensen: Smooth Bent Apple
Product Number: 002-331-0312
Benni's penchant for smooth, rounded shapes is readily on display here in this bent Apple, the full cheeks of the Brandy bowl emphasized even more by a low-set transition and a sharp-lined lenticular shank. While perhaps not as overt as many of Jorgensen's designs, the Danish artisan's signature use of a continuous arc along the underside is also present, initiated by the bowl's light, lifting heel and traveling along a slight upward flare until it reaches the subtly domed shank face. The result is a dynamic silhouette, offering a clean sense of forward momentum in profile; that said, Benni's sacrificed nothing in the way of ergonomics, keeping the shank and bowl broad for a full, comfortable feel in hand. On top of it all, he's also oriented the block's natural flame grain pattern beautifully, with fine strands jumping up vertically all around the bowl.
