A poised, gestural bent Apple, this piece is imbued with Benni Jorgensen's conventional style and readily reflects his penchant for graceful, organic shapes. A pair of firm ridgelines emerge from the lenticular shank face, traveling along the sides before blending seamlessly with the bowl's shaping and accentuating its lifted stance. Those ridgelines simultaneously contrast the bowl's supple curves and soft lines while also creating the prominent cheeking visible at the transition. The Danish artisan has then finished the stummel in a light-depth sandblast, preserving the bowl's curvaceousness while managing to coax out a fascinating array of undulating ring grain around the bowl before meeting the smooth, chamfered rim above. It's been dressed in a reserved chocolate-tinged stain, resulting in an understated pipe that showcases the flowing, gentle style Jorgensen has spent decades cultivating.
