Bill Shalosky: Rusticated Billiard with Juma (523) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-720-0142

Bill Shalosky isn't one to shy away from using alternative materials in his pipe making; his portfolio consists of pieces crafted from morta in addition to briar, while exotic woods comprise accents and stems, lending even more flourish to his often-seen classic shapes, as seen in this Billiard.

The American carver demonstrates a keen eye for shaping, with years of experience spent crafting pipes at Smoker's Haven and Chheda Pipes, and still works as a member of BriarWorks' artisan team, while also fashioning pipes under his own name. His penchant for classic Anglo-French designs is reflected in this Billiard, the bowl upright and sturdy. The proportions between bowl and shank speak to its traditional aesthetics, the streamlined, sleek shank-and-stem arrangement lending support and a pleasant balance. It's dressed in a mahogany-stained, rather woodsy rustication, with the creamy mouthpiece of Juma, a strong, synthetic material used in knife handles, lending beautiful contrast. This is a fine presentation from the American carver and quite the testament to his talents in shaping and finishing.
