Bruno Nuttens: Handmade Smooth Billiard with Horn (AA) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-939-0057

Belgian-born artisan Bruno Nuttens now resides in France, where he has made pipes full-time since 2018. Nuttens first became involved with pipes after he bought a collection of estates, only one of which he was particularly interested in. However he thought it a waste not restore the whole batch, and soon began a prolific part-time enterprise, restoring over 7,000 pipes since 2012. Later, Nuttens began carving his own pipes with mentorship from Pierre Morel and Tom Eltang, gaining a keen grasp of classic French style and distinctive Danish designs. Nuttens crafts two main categories of pipes, his Heritage series, made from pre-turned stummel, and the Handmade line, shaped entirely by Nuttens. This piece is part of Nuttens Handmade line.

This Billiard is a fine example of Nuttens facility with classic French shapes, combined with appointments that recall something of the Danish style. The design places a pert, subtly tapered bowl atop a pert heel. Said bowl rests at the fore of a defined transition, which gives way to a sleek round shank and tapered vulcanite stem accented with a a trim band of horn at the junction. Dressed in a rich mahogany finish the AA-grade stummel fine birdseye and flame grain on either flank of the bowl, making this piece certain to interest fans of classic style and elevated design.
