Bruno Nuttens: Handmade Sandblasted Tulip (A) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-939-0173
French artisan Bruno Nuttens boasts a delightfully varied portfolio that ranges from understated, serially-produced works of Anglo-French classicism to more expressive, often Danish-inspired pieces made entirely by hand. An unapologetically slender pipe, this Tulip displays an extended stretch of shank and stem, with the shank showcasing a particularly striking extension out of the wide transition. This shank reaches out with a slight taper and meets a similarly tapering cumberland stem, the pairing creating a streamlined silhouette that focuses most of the visual weight on the bowl. Said bowl stands on a round, extended heel that dips down in spur-like fashion, supporting walls that flare out subtly toward a domed rim and cant forward in understated fashion. Dressed in a crisp, ruddy sandblast, the stummel showcases handsome grain, with rippling bands of growth rings cascading down the walls of the bowl.
