Butz-Choquin: Arabesque (1789)

Product Number: 002-010-2525

"Arabesque" came to be something of a catch-all term, from originally referring specifically to the non-figural, flourishing style of Islamic surface decoration to including European hybrids of the Islamic style and Roman or Greek motifs... and then further confused by the term eventually being assigned to all manner of unrelated but similarly winding and entwining decoration (such as that descending from Celtic or Scandinavian/Germanic styles). Anyway, the basic theme of Butz-Choquin's Arabesque is pretty clear: flourishing lines, and lots of them, on a pipe sure to attract attention.
