Caminetto: Sandblasted Hawbill (06) (AT) Tobacco Pipe

The Hawkbill is a shape with deep roots in the Italian world of pipe making as many makers have put their own unique spin on the easily recognizable shape over the years. This Caminetto interpretation is a playfully compact rendition that manages to maintain much of the design's inherent whimsy and gesture. While it measures just over four and a half inches in length, its pocket-friendly proportions emphasizing the shape's inherently playful lines even more. That said, the Italian workshop has done an excellent job of staying true to the archetypal form with this piece, pairing a chubby Apple bowl to a gracefully arcing aquiline shank and abbreviated stem. It's dressed here in a crisp, earthy sandblast, showcasing some lovely growth ring patterns undulating up its bowl from the heel.
