This bent Billiard from Caminetto possesses all the qualities of a good desk pipe: a broad, flat heel that enables sturdy sitting, a healthy chamber capacity, and a handsome presentation. The firm, muscular bowl, in typical Italian neoclassical style, overshadows comparatively trim shank-and-stem arrangement in terms of proportions, but the rim's slant imbues the bowl with a rearward sense of momentum that draws the eye to the arc of the mouthpiece and the sterling silver accent at the shank end. The stummel wears a ruby-hued sandblast that draws out waves of rippling grain around the bowl, with the rim left smooth for a touch of tactile contrast.
