The Cobra is a rare pipe design, particularly among the European carvers. Occasionally they'll be fashioned from meerschaum or shaped by an artisan, though they're seldom crafted by workshops. This piece, accordingly, is a welcome sight from Caminetto. The robust, forward-urging bowl with its rusticated "hood" or fore, sees smooth line work beginning at the rim and continuing through the sinuous curl of the shank before ending at the bit. The result is a dynamic, elegant design, dressed in a deep emerald green stain that reveals handsome grain through the aft side, while the jet-black acrylic stem provides pleasing contrast.
