A thoroughly Italian take on the classic Canadian shape, this piece from Caminetto features a tall, thick-walled bowl that stands at the fore of a lengthy oval shank and an abbreviated tapered mouthpiece. The shank and stem's reduced diameter keeps the shape sleek and understated in profile, lending the bowl and its firm, slightly protruding heel visual prominence within the overall composition. Dressed in a dark rustication, the stummel offers a wealth of tactile detail for the fingers to admire, and it should do well to conceal any handling marks that may accrue over time.
