Caminetto: Rusticated Reverse Calabash Calabash with Olivewood (08) (AT) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-011-0770
In the late 1960s, two Castello pipe makers, Guiseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice, left to found their own workshop, Caminetto. Their skilled craftsmanship grew Caminetto into one of the most popular marques of the 1970s and beyond. The traditional Calabash is fashioned from a gourd paired to a meerschaum or briar cap, providing a wide expanse within the pipe that cools the smoke. Modern reverse Calabashes employ the same engineering, but place the cooling reservoir within a thick, hollow shank. This Calabash by Caminetto incorporates both styles, featuring the traditional removeable chamber cap and modern reverse Calabash engineering in the shank. This pipe showcases a muscular Billiard design, forming a right angle where the bowl and shank meet. A rustication on the stummel adds to this Calabash's rugged appeal, while blonde accents on the shank end and bowl offer a parallel, further drawing attention to the similar width of both ends of the stummel.
