Caminetto: Event 2024 Partiallly Sandblasted Rhodesian (AT) Tobacco Pipe

The Caminetto workshop was founded by Luigi Radice and Guiseppe Ascorti in the late 1960s, the pair establishing the brand after a lengthy tenure with Castello. Caminetto pipes quickly became a success, their unique design language cementing them as one of Italy's most respected makers. They've become especially renowned for their craggy rustications, with many of their pipes showcasing highly textural carving across their stummels. Caminetto's Event line is a once-yearly limited-release series that comprises a single shape taken from the Italian workshop's historical portfolio. These vintage profiles are resurrected with a touch of modernization and are presented in a variety of finishes, with this 2024 edition being a gestural Rhodesian. There's an extremely subtle degree of sinuousness present here, with the wide transition giving way to a tapering shank-and-stem combination, the shank itself lifting gently and meeting the stem at a broad band of brass that reads "EVENT" on the left side and "2024" on the right. The stem is a demure curve of black acrylic that poises the pipe for comfortable smoking and completes a subtle S-curve in silhouette. Up front, the bowl stands atop a rounded heel that works with the shank and stem to complete a consistent undercurve and support the bowl's easy flare up to a pair of crisp beadlines, with these beadlines additionally denoting a sleek taper to the rim. Dressed in a crisp partial sandblast and inky stain, the stummel showcases handsome grain throughout, with rich contrast offered by the brass junction band.
