Caminetto: Rusticated Billiard (08) (AT) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-011-0866
In the late 1960s, two Castello pipe makers, Giuseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice, left to found their own workshop, Caminetto. Their skilled craftsmanship grew Caminetto into one of the most popular marques of the 1970s and beyond. Measuring less than five inches long, this Billiard by Caminetto is quite compact, but in keeping the workshop's usual shaping style, it retains a muscular build and a weighty in-hand presence. The bowl here is broad and squat, its thick, insulating walls rising from a slightly pronounced heel to a subtly tapered rim. Said bowl is balanced at the fore of a sturdy shank and a bulky saddle stem, the latter of which promotes a comfortable clench. Dressing this piece is a crisp rustication that lends a wealth of tactile detail to the composition.
