Caminetto: Smooth Hawkbill (05) (AT) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-011-0876

The Caminetto workshop was founded by Luigi Radice and Guiseppe Ascorti in the late 1960s, the pair establishing the brand after a lengthy tenure with Castello. Caminetto pipes quickly became a success, their unique design language cementing them as one of Italy's most respected makers. They've become especially renowned for their craggy rustications, with many of their pipes showcasing highly textural carving across their stummels. The Hawkbill is a shape with deep roots in the Italian world of pipe making, and many makers have put their own unique spin on the easily recognizable shape over the years. This interpretation is a playfully compact rendition that manages to maintain much of the design's inherent whimsy and gesture. While it measures under four and a half inches in length, its pocket-friendly proportions emphasize the shape's inherently playful lines even more. That said, the Italian workshop has done an excellent job of staying true to the archetypal form with this piece, pairing a chubby Brandy bowl to a gracefully arcing aquiline shank and abbreviated stem. It's dressed here in a rich, smooth finish that boasts an expressive green stain and showcases a wealth of handsome grain.
