Caminetto: Event 2019 Smooth Bent Billiard Sitter (AT) Tobacco Pipe

The Caminetto workshop was founded by Luigi Radice and Giuseppe Ascorti in the late 1960s, the pair establishing the brand after a lengthy tenure with Castello. Caminetto pipes quickly became a success, their unique design language cementing them as one of Italy's most respected makers. They've become especially renowned for their craggy rustications, with many of their pipes showcasing highly textural carving across their stummels. Caminetto's Event line is a once-yearly limited-release series that comprises a single shape taken from the Italian workshop's historical portfolio. These vintage profiles are resurrected with a touch of modernization and are presented in a variety of finishes, with this 2019 edition being a plump bent Billiard sitter. The shank and stem here are impressively sinuous, with the tight transition giving way to a high-kicking shank capped by a broad band of brass reading "EVENT" on the left side and "2019" on the right, marking the junction to a sleek, smartly downturned stretch of black acrylic. The shank and stem poise this pipe for comfortable smoking, and their angle leads the eye to this pipe's flat foot and rounded heel: allowing the composition to sit stably. The bowl boasts a low-set waistline and supple, curvaceous walls that take on an arcing taper to the rim, offering a comfortable feel in hand and plenty of chamber thanks to its impressive height. Dressed in a warm, rich stain, the stummel showcases handsome grain throughout, while the brass band offers some delightful contrast.
