Castello: Sea Rock Briar Paneled Bent Dublin (KKKK) (Pi)
Product Number: 002-386-3600
Castello has here taken a structured, architectural shaping approach by paneling the bowl of this bent Dublin. In profile, it nods to the Zulu shape with is gently downturned stem, gradually flaring transition, and canted bowl. But unlike most traditional Zulu and Dublin iterations, this offering featuring a series of crisp panels around the bowl. It effectively juxtaposes the supple curvature of the form's silhouette against the bowl's firm, rigid shaping. Even more striking is the stummel's dual finish with the workshop's signature Sea Rock Briar rustication covering the entire shank as well as the bowl's fore and aft while the flanks are left smooth and finished in a smoky walnut stain. It's then topped off with a jet-black acrylic military mount, complementing the dark tones of the rustication and enabling this pipe to be broken down at anytime without having to fear about damaging the shank.- Jeffery Sitts
