Castello: Old Antiquari Great Line Bent Dublin (1982)

Product Number: 002-386-4240

The gradual darkening of the bowl as it rises to the rim is referred to as "fumed," and the Castello factory is perhaps the most ardent practitioner of the technique. Here it enhances a tall, sandblasted Dublin, its transition soft and gradual, and similar to that of a Horn, graduating in diameter from the wide upper bowl to the slender shank-and-stem combination. That consistent tapering of the form emphasizes the impressive stature of the bowl, its undulating, plateau-crowned rim providing a touch of whimsy to punctuate its classic appeal. Fashioned from special briar originally sourced in 1982, this is a remarkable piece and should ably demonstrates why Castello pipes are heralded for their excellent smoking properties.
