Castello: Old America 2020 Sea Rock Briar Hawkbill (Big Line) (18.18) Tobacco Pipe

The Old America 2020 series from Castello is a special, limited-edition line fashioned instead of their usual PCA pipes. Traditionally, Castello has released a limited-edition series in honor of the PCA (previously IPCPR) trade show in Las Vegas; however, this year's expo was unfortunately cancelled in light of COVID-19 restrictions. Not wanting to completely forgo a special release, though, Castello crafted 18 Hawkbill designs writ large, as their PCA pipes often represent incredibly bold sizes. Each pipe is serialized out of the total 18, with this one being stamped number 18 and dressed in the Italian workshop's extra-craggy Sea Rock rustication. Such a textured finish suits the massive size of this pipe, offering plenty of tactile appreciation in hand, while the smooth, honey-blonde rim adds elegant contrast. These Old American 2020 Hawkbills were also fashioned from briar blocks that Castello has been curing for over 12 years (longer even than the workshop usually ages its briar), designated by this piece's "Big Line" stamp. It's a special pipe for Castello aficionados and one that offers bold, imposing presence of exceptional Italian style.
