Castello: Aristocratica Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-386-4409

With a slanted rim that lends the piece a sense of gestural momentum, this bent Dublin from Castello is a rich, lavish piece of Italian design, and in some ways, a piece of Castello's history. Carlo Scotti, from 1968 to 1979, crafted a number of special pieces that he gave to close friends. He called these pipes the "Aristocratica," which birthed the series that we now know today, honoring those pipes and the man himself, and while they are not the exact same designs, they bear a similar finish: the fumed rim contrasting with the warm auburn stain. Boasting a gorgeous rim of darkened plateau and the gentle taper expected from a Dublin shape, this piece is paired to an abbreviated shank, thickening slightly as it comes out of the transition, before ending in a playful, asymmetrical design at its face. The black tapered stem complements the stummel, especially the fumed rim, its tenon remaining visible in a brief gap off the shank face.
