Castello: 'Castello' Bent Dublin (G) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-386-4639
It's quite startling to me that this bent Dublin is a Nosewarmer, measuring in almost exactly four and a half inches long, as it is over two and a half inches tall, thanks to its bowl of boldly neoclassical proportions, and has been given a "G" stamp, denoting larger than average pipes. The overall styling here is quite Danish in appearance, with a steep, deep bend about the shank and stem, the former very high kicking and transitioning at an acute, parabolic angle. A gradual taper possesses the shank, ending in a domed fitment of black acrylic, stepping down at the base of the svelte tapered stem which, too, is black, and is strikingly bent. There's a remarkable check mark-like design here, with a plunging underside and pronounced heel which erupts upward and at a very forward urging angle that gives this piece plenty of momentum. Dressed in the Italian workshop's eponymous finish, the honey-blonde stain unveils a handsome grain pattern in the briar, with some flame grain on the left flank, fading into birdseye, with birdseye more prevalent on the right flank.
