A muscular, rather compact Billiard from Castello, this piece reflects the dramatically divergent proportions of Italian neoclassical style. Tall and thick-walled, the stout, Pot-like bowl houses plenty of chamber capacity and boasts the firm, slightly protruding Castello heel, while the more trim shank-and-stem arrangement displays a steady taper toward the bit. The stummel is dressed in the dark sandblast of Castello's Old Antiquari finish, highlighting a stunning array of rippling growth rings across the bowl in addition to an abundance of visual and textural gratification.
