Castello: 'Castello' Dublin with Silver Stand (KKKK) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-386-4723
It's not often that we see a design like this from Castello, though each time we see it I can't help but applaud their ingenuity, as the integration of a low-profile stand into a silver shank end fitment is simply astounding. This stand flips out as two legs from the split midsection, holding the pipe itself stable when you set it down on its shapely underside. Additionally, it doesn't interrupt the lines of the pipe, as, despite it's slight bulge, there is still a very clear implied line that continues the taper of the shank from the wide transition. The bowl of this straight Dublin is possessed of a slight flare near the rim, and it's been oriented in such a way that reminds me of both the Rhodesian and the Acorn, though the latter comes through most prominently given this pipe's rather pronounced heel. The rim is crowned in a short, lightly sanded plateau that offers a handsome difference in texture from the smooth, honeyed auburn dressing the rest of the briar.-John McElheny
