Castello's Knot line of pipes is a prestigious, limited-edition series, with this particular bent Billiard secured as number 77 out of only 100 pieces. Representatives of the line are adorned with a silver band depicting an ornate knot carving, lending a disposition of sturdiness and durability. Shape-wise, the tall, robust bowl houses a nearly startling amount of chamber within thick walls along with a sweeping heel. Neoclassic in its dramatized proportions, the hearty bowl dominates in size that of the far more slender, nearly vertical shank-and-stem arrangement. With plenty of room at the transition to drape a digit and the gentle downturn of the mouthpiece, this is a pipe that promises comfortable, leisurely smoking sessions. Additionally, it's allocated the "Pi" designation, meaning it's dually finished. The right half of the pipe wears one of the workshop's stunning honey-blonde stains that does well to show off the briar's wispy, tight-knit strands of fiery flame grain. The left flank and shank are wearing the craggy, earthy rustication of the Sea Rock Briar finish, affording plenty of textural diversity for a piece that's very inviting, warm and sure to appeal to a discerning collector of gorgeous Italian briars.
