Castello: Aristocratica Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-386-5162
This piece does well to represent Castello's typical approach to the bent Dublin. As is often the case in Italian pipe making, the Cantù workshop adds a more whimsical, dramatic style to the classic English pipe chart standard. This piece still displays the form's defining, flaring bowl, but Castello's rendition adds a slight cinch to the waistline, offering more curves, while the shank-and-stem combination curls sinuously in signature Castello style. This particular example wears the auburn stain and fumed rim of the Aristocratica line, the name and aesthetic taken from a series of pipes that founder Carlo Scotti fashioned for close friends in the 1960s and '70s. This particular piece is additionally carved in a partial rustication, lending the shank and rim a wealth of added texture.
