A deserved recipient of Castello's heralded Occhio di Pernice stamp, designating birdseye of rare and spectacular quality, this Oom Paul is a well balanced rendition of the classic shape. What's particular about this shape is the taper of the shank, which transforms from very broad at the transition to quite slender as it meets the tapered mouthpiece. Balance for this shape is almost always good, but Castello's version seems weightless when the piece is held by the stem.
