This Pot from Castello features the stout, broad bowl that often marks the shape, with a firm heel and flattened underside that enables the piece to sit quite sturdily, making it a rather robust desk pipe. The shank tapers gradually coming out of the low-slung, tight-knit transition before giving way to a sleek saddle stem. The shank and stem play more of a secondary role in the composition, meaning the bowl holds most of the visual weight in profile. The stummel wears a gorgeous, dark chestnut smooth finish that accentuates some stellar birdseye and flame grain around the bowl.
