Castello's Fiammata designation is reserved for pipes with particularly striking flame grain, as evidenced by this large, impressive Canadian design. In keeping with the Italian neoclassical style, this Canadian sees a large, thick-walled bowl set to a lean, tapering shank-and-stem arrangement. The bowl, with its muscular build and towering visual presence, overshadows the comparatively lithe shank and stem, resulting in a profile that draws the eye to the fore rather than aft. Plateau along the rim adds a touch of organic flair to the overall composition, its craggy texture offsetting this otherwise smoothly polished design. A chestnut stain dresses the stummel and highlights truly striking tendrils of flame grain that rise from the bowl's plump, forward-ebbing heel and terminate at the rim.
