Castello: 'Castello' Billiard (KKKK) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-386-5724
Founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello's commitment to handcrafting high-quality pipes helped elevate the reputation of Italian pipes to luxury status. Furthermore, Castello's approach to shaping helped cultivate the bowl-centric and whimsical Italian neoclassic aesthetic. This Billiard is a fine example of the talents of Castello's carvers, presenting the classic profile in stocky, robust proportions whose musculature is focused squarely on the bowl. The transition is wide, with plenty of room to drape a digit, and it gives way to a rather thick, tapering shank joined to a similarly tapering stem of black acrylic: keeping the aft side sleek and the visual weight on the bowl. Said bowl stands on a rounded heel and grows thick, subtly tapering walls that rise with a slight curvature to the rim, making for a comfortable feel in hand while admirably insulating a capacious chamber. Dressed in Castello's eponymous smooth finish, the stummel wears a warm, light stain that reveals handsome grain throughout.
