Castello: 'Castello' Pot (KK) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-386-5726
Founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello's commitment to handcrafting high-quality pipes helped elevate the reputation of Italian pipes to luxury status. Furthermore, Castello's approach to shaping helped cultivate the bowl-centric and whimsical Italian neoclassic aesthetic. A stout pipe of near Nosewarmer dimensions, this straight Pot measures just over four and a half inches long and boasts a robust bowl with ample surface area for the fingers to wrap around. A wide transition leaves plenty of room to drape a thumb and starts the gradual taper of the shank, paired here to a trim stem of more swiftly tapering black acrylic. The bowl sits atop a rounded, pronounced heel, though not so much at the Italian workshop's iconic "55" shape, and the walls that grow out of it take on their own gentle taper to the plateau-crowned rim. The wealth of material possessed by this pipe offers a fantastic canvas for the workshop's eponymous finish to dress, revealing lovely birdseye across both flanks of the bowl.
