Castello: Collection Occhio di Pernice Bent Egg (KKK) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-386-5768
With a layered history dating back to 1947, Castello is known as one of the first Italian brands to separate from the conventional English and French shape charts to help create the Italian neoclassical style seen today. Translating to "castle" in English, founder Carlo Scotti chose the name Castello to be recognized in several European languages. The marque eventually combined with Radice and Ascorti and was one of the first brands to provide high-quality handmade pipes to the general public. Leading shaping in Italy, Castello is now considered one of the most iconic pipe manufacturers in the world.
This bent Egg possesses a Hawkbill-like build, with a gently bent shank-and-stem arrangement supporting a plump, Apple-like bowl. Said bowl boasts supple walls that rise from a wide heel and taper gently to a taut rim. Out back, a wide transition sees the start of an oval shank that joins a demurely curved and quite slender stem. The warm Collection smooth finish dresses the composition and highlights birdseye so spectacular that Castello awarded this piece their Occhio di Pernice stamping, reserved for pipes with truly spectacular birdseye.
