With a layered history dating back to 1947, Castello is known as one of the first Italian brands to separate from the conventional English and French shape charts to help create the Italian neoclassical style seen today. Translating to "castle" in English, founder Carlo Scotti chose the name Castello to be recognized in several European languages. Up front, the bowl is traditionally inclined, with its walls rising from a firm heel and flaring toward a plateau-crowned rim, offering textural contrast to the otherwise smooth pipe. A broad transition lends ample room to wrap the thumb as it gives way to an arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement, the combination gradually tapering to the bit.
