Castello: 'Castello' Pot (KK) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-386-5826
Founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello's commitment to handcrafting high-quality pipes helped elevate the reputation of Italian pipes to luxury status. Furthermore, Castello's approach to shaping helped cultivate the bowl-centric and whimsical Italian neoclassic aesthetic. A stout and remarkably compact piece, this straight Pot measures just over four and a half inches long and boasts a robust bowl with ample surface area for the fingers to wrap around. A wide transition leaves plenty of room to drape a thumb and starts the gradual taper of the shank, paired here to a trim stem of more swiftly tapering black acrylic. The bowl sits atop a rounded, pronounced heel, though not so much as the Italian workshop's iconic "55" shape, and the walls that grow out of it take on their own gentle taper to the rim. The wealth of material possessed by this pipe offers a fantastic canvas for the workshop's eponymous finish to dress, revealing flame grain that surrounds most of the stummel.
