Castello: Old Antiquari Pot (KK) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-386-5838
With a layered history dating back to 1947, Castello is known as one of the first Italian brands to separate from the conventional English and French shape charts to help create the Italian neoclassical style seen today. Translating to "castle" in English, founder Carlo Scotti chose the name Castello to be recognized in several European languages. The marque eventually combined with Radice and Ascorti and was one of the first brands to provide high-quality handmade pipes to the general public. Leading shaping in Italy, Castello is now considered one of the most iconic pipe manufacturers in the world.
This Pot from Castello is a lightweight offering from the marque, though due to its respectable tobacco chamber, you will not have to sacrifice smoking time. Rising from a full-bodied heel, the walls of the squat bowl climb to meet a smooth rim, adding some textural contrast to the craggy stummel. Out back, an abbreviated shank extends from the transition to meet an acrylic military mount from which a tapered stem protrudes form. The inky pigment of the acrylic pairs well to the dark stain of Castello's Old Antiquari finish, save for the aforementioned smooth rim which is honey-hued and highlights dense patches of birdseye.
