One of the biggest names in Italian pipe making today, Castello's roots can be traced back to 1947, when Carlo Scotti founded the workshop and began producing handmade briar pipes. At the time, handmade briars were uncommon in Italy, but that would soon change as Castello discovered customers' desire for high-quality, handcrafted pipes. In a time of quantity over quality in Italy's pipe making history, Castello flipped the script by prioritizing craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and cutting-edge engineering. This Oom Paul offers easy jaw-hanging capabilities, a capacious chamber, and an iconic profile. The sizable bowl and incredibly wide transition provide plenty of space for the fingers to comfortably rest while enjoying this long-smoking offering. Aside from the rim and the shank's left flank, the stummel is dressed in the Italian marque's inky, craggy Sea Rock rustication. This finish offers a wealth of stimulating texture for the hands to admire. As for the rim and a portion of the shank, they remain smooth and wear a vibrant auburn stain, adding a few pops of contrast amidst the otherwise dark and rugged briar.
