Castello: 'Castello' Billiard (KK) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-386-5897
The name Castello, "castle" in Italian, is meant to evoke an aura of pleasant fantasy. Founded by Carlo Scotti in 1947, Castello became a trendsetting marque, being among the first Italian brands to market luxury, hand-made pipes and helping to set the bowl-centric and whimsical standards typical of Italian neoclassicism. In this Billiard, Castello offers a touch of neoclassic Italian playfulness to an otherwise traditional Billiard. The tapered stem, being a push-style stem, pairs to an acrylic mount of the same color. Being a push-style mouthpiece makes the base of this stem significantly narrower than it would be had the stem's face matched the circumference of the shank's. The mount at the shank end being of the same color and material as the stem evokes the appearance of a saddle stem at first, making the shank appear shorter than it actually is — thus emphasizing the bowl's height without modifying the classic Billiard proportions. Colored a warm chestnut hue, Castello's eponymous smooth finish dresses the stummel, highlighting attractive grain throughout.
