Castello: 'Castello' Pot (KKKK) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-386-5904
The name Castello, "Castle" in Italian, is meant to evoke an aura of pleasant fantasy. Founded by Carlo Scotti in 1947, Castello became a trendsetting marque, being among the first Italian brands to market luxury, hand-made pipes and helping to set the bowl-centric and whimsical standards typical of Italian neoclassicism. This Pot from Castello is a robust, thoroughly neoclassical rendition of the conventional shape. The pipe's hearty proportions and compact length place the bowl at the center of the show. Atop thick walls, the rim — adorned with fine filaments of swirling birdseye — encloses a chamber of respectable tobacco-holding capacity. The voluminous shank emerges from a mid-set transition, buff and round as it joins the stem. Said stem firmly punctuates the pipe's aft with a steep taper into the button. The Italian marque's eponymous finish dresses the stummel, with contrasting gold and brown stain revealing smoky swirls of birdseye and majestic streaks of flame grain across the smooth surface.
